HFRG Marlborough Deeps 2012
Pictures & Google Earth KML file have been uploaded for the first foray of 2012 with very few finds, but we did find a fantastic Cranefly Ctenophora flaveolata (Yellow-ringed comb-horn cranefly) other names included “The Fly From Hell”, whilst dragging a tree trunk from a small pool of water to get a better picture of Lentinus tigrinus a newt was spotted Triturus helveticus (Palmate Newt (Male)) this kept the younger minds active for some time, weather was fine and dry and only started to show signs of rain as we arrived back at the car park, pictures can be found under “Gallery” “HFRG Forays” Enjoy, Paul.
Local Waxwing Gallery Added
Uploaded a new gallery under “Gallery” “Local Interest” “Warwick Avenue Waxwing” this gallery will feature pictures taken at Warwick Avenue in New Milton of the visiting Waxwing, if they ever turn up in 2012, current pictures in this gallery were taken in Feb 2011.

HFRG GoogleEarth KML Files
Having purchased a new compact camera (Pentax Optio WG-1 GPS) which produces excellent GoogleEarth .kml files via the built in GPS, I have started to add kml files to selected HFRG Foray’s, these currently include West Moors, Romsey Cemetery & Calvaslease Copse, to use the file click on the link under the gallery and save to your computer, you then double click the file and it will open GoogleEarth and overlay the map with a red line of the route taken, upon exiting GE you will be asked if you want to save this route to GE or just quit.
HFRG Calveslease Copse
Pictures and GoogleEarth KML file are all available on-line for the Calveslease Copse Foray on the 10/12/2011, as can be seen on the kml file we did not get far into the copse, with lots of log rolling most of the finds were tiny requiring the use of 3 lens tubes to get anywhere near close enough, I was well pleased with the “Mycena adscendens” (No:3) picture, after the foray a quick sprint to the Red Lion, Boldre for a pint and Xmas dinner which was excellent, thanks to Alan & Sue for organizing this, Enjoy!
MP3 player not working
Having upgraded to WordPress 3.3 on the 13/12/2011, I have since found the MP3 player (MP3-jplayer plugin) which is located underneath most of the picture gallery’s no longer works, we are sorry for any disruption to your listening pleasure:~), normal service will resume ASAP.
HFRG Romsey Cemetery Foray
Pictures from the Romsey Cemetery Foray are now live under the “Gallery” menu. The Romsey Cemetery Foray produced lots of Waxcaps, Parrot, Scarlett & Butter to name just a few, the colours on a couple of the Parrot Waxcaps were absolutely fantastic, hope you enjoy the pictures.
HFRG West Moors Foray
Latest uploads include the Ashurst Lodge foray and Sundays West Moors MOD outing, we had fantastic weather feeling more like September than November, after going through the many rules (no tripods) for this site, I decided to try the direct method and just walked through the security gate with tripod on full show, this appeared to work very well and tripod was duly connected to camera and picture-taking commenced, the pictures represent only a tiny amount of the specimens found as most were picked well before us photographers got anywhere near them, anyway I hope you enjoy the pictures, Paul.
